Beatin’ Depression
The age old taboo of depression
Pretty rife in our society at the moment
And some studies are suggesting that over 25% of peeps have suffered from it at some stage of their life
That’s one in every 4 friends amigo (scary)
Hell even if I look at all 5 of our trainers, 2 of us (including myself) have suffered badly with depression
That might show you how shocking it is – considering everyone thinks the Results staff are loop the loop and the life and soul of every party
I even got questioned about my previous depression because I was ‘successful’
^ supposedly if you suffer with depression you can’t make a great living
Yesterday really reminded me of how we take people for granted
One of my long serving clients, a messer who never doesn’t have a smile on his face, had been missing classes regularly over the last 3 months
I presumed he was busy with college, work and partying (he really loves his parties)
So I mailed him and told him to get his ass back in, which he duly obliged
Same smiley head and having the bants with everyone
Yet afterwards he pulled me aside for a chat
He was nervous and even a lil jittery
Told me he had been suffering from depression for the last few months and was struggling
My heart broke for the lad
Yet he had a lil ray of sunshine for me
The doc he was seeing asked him what makes him happy
His answer?
‘Training in Results makes me happy’
I’m telling ye all something now
That answer he gave us is now my greatest achievement ever in business. EVER.
For our gym to drag a person out of the blues is amazing
I’ve never been so inspired to drive our business forward and take it to the next level
I wanna help more people like this dude
Inspire them and help them beat their demons
So here’s a message for everyone and especially this brave hulk
Results Ireland is here for you. Depression is not a taboo. Be open about it and don’t hide it. You won’t be judged. You’ll just inspire others to kick ass and help you every single step of the way. Let’s beat it together.
Even if we help one more person, my next year of business will be worth it
We are there for you
