Grumpy Coach
EverĀ feel like you just want to punch a wall, slap someone, sit in a corner and eat a bowl of ice cream?
Course ya do – your Irish
Funnily enough when you’re feeling like this or just feeling down on yourself in general the last thing you want to do is meet a happy fecker
All smiles, like the sun shines out of his arse
The dude that’s happy and positive all the time
^ and often enough that’s a trainer
The dude that posts on flakebook ‘be the best you can be’ ‘I had a dream’ and many other BS quotes
The dude with rock hard abs who only ever sees the bright side
^ The dude who doesn’t UNDERSTAND clients ^
Think about it
Your having a ‘fat day’ and you’ve to go in to meet your trainer
He ignores that your feeling low, tells you life is great and just gets on with training
^ that just makes you feel like shit
He just doesn’t care about those low points and does nothing to help you through it
^ that sucks
Training is all about highs and lows and how to benefit from them
Lows result in pain (mentally and physically) and it’s your trainers duty to help you maximise them
Like just last week I measured in one of my lovely FitChicks and she felt terrible
She felt bloated, fat and just yuck
You know what I did?
I LISTENED
I didn’t brush her off or ignore her
She told me WHY she felt bad and was better for it after already
I told her we would work through it and she’s already come a long way and this was just a ‘bump’ which we have all experienced (me included)
I’m not gonna say I magically put her in an awesome mood but it did help
Same with clients if they’re going through some bad stuff and message me saying they can’t come in
I’m not going to be a drill sergeant and give out to them
They don’t need that – I’m here to help not to knock them down further
Being honest Results is just so much more than training
There’s a bucketload of emotions and feelings when in the gym and it’s our job to help people maximise those
Whether it’s pain, anger and frustration
Or joy, elation and happiness
Training and getting in shape is not easy
I know that
But if you’ve people on board that understand the shit you’re going through then it makes it a hell of a lot easier
^And that pretty much sums up why people come to here
