Hangover
Waking up with a banging headache and the room still spinning is never a good thing
Yet that’s what we love to do on an ongoing basis
^ and I was no exception on Saturday
Had a deadlift comp in the gym (Congrats to our winner Ken who lifted nearly 2.5 times his bodyweight) and once finished we headed straight to the pub
Watched the matches (sigh for Ireland) and had a client gathering which consisted of wedges, sausages and a small army of beer/cider/jager/whiskey/morgan/vodka
^ it was like a earthquake mixed with a tornado
And you what? It was feckin’ brilliant
Our clients loved it (even with the fear for today’s classes) and it brought everyone a lil closer together
It showed that us as trainers can relax, eat ‘bad’ food and sink a few too many ciders
We can relate to our clients and prove that we can let our hair down and give it socks
In my opinion it’s one of the most important things to show your clients in terms of long term progression
It’s ok to go wild every now and again. You’re not gonna ruin your physique with a night out and you should never beat yourself up about it
Plus you have to think you need a chance to show it off on a night out – that’s pretty important as well. Dress yourself up, make yourself feel nice and install a lil confidence in your life
A lot of people (including way too many trainers) are forcing themselves to stay at home, take a selfie and a pic of their salad with the hashtag ‘dedication’, thinking that this is the only way of life for a gym bunny
^ that’s helping absolutely no one by the way
An aspiring gym bunny is going to automatically think that’s the only way and they’ll eventually ditch the gym idea
^ that SUCKS
So here’s a piece that you won’t hear off many a trainer
It’s ok to drink pints, sink tequila, have a curry chip and wake up with a tiger in your bathroom (every now and again)
Just coz you train doesn’t mean you don’t have a life
Them fun nights out may just have a benefit to your long term progression. They might prevent you from falling off the wagon completely and crying into a tub of Haegen Das every night
A good night won’t kill you. And what doesn’t kill you will make you stronger 😉
